William Bunn, D.O. is a board-certified psychiatrist with experience treating a wide range of mental health conditions.
Prior to his medical training, he was an award-winning full-time college English instructor and has continued his passion for teaching as a physician and speaker. He sings, plays the guitar, and writes educational songs about mental health issues and medications. Dr. Bunn has published original research in Academic Psychiatry on teaching empathy for the mentally ill to medical students and is adjunct faculty at the University of Utah School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. His first book, Jerk Magnet: A Guide to Demagnetized, published in 2015, draws upon this expertise to answer the question of why some people have a mysterious unseen force attracting them to Jerks. His uncommon combination of humanities and science give him an accessible and original voice in the scientific community.
For the past 15 years he has been one of the primary psychiatrists for a University Student Health Center, which helped him become an expert on the issues facing adolescents and young adults today. He also continues to work with an eating disorder specialty hospital, and has extensive experience with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, mood disorders, substance abuse, and OCD. He is an expert in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). For the past 10 years he has consulted with several adolescent treatment facilities to provide expert consulting services for medication management of complicated condition and is comfortable with patients as young as 12.
He is married, has two adult children, and enjoys exercising, trail running, cooking, eating, traveling, scuba diving, and spending time with his friends and family.
