Dr. Smith grew up in Pleasant Grove where his family has lived since the 1860’s. Dr. Smith’s ancestors have been actively involved in a local pharmaceutical business for over 80 years. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and then Brigham Young University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude majoring in Zoology and minoring in Chemistry.
Dr. Smith graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from the University of Utah Medical School with an MD degree, completed a three-year residency in Family Medicine at Duke University Medical Center. He has also completed a Masters of Public Health degree at Harvard University. Dr. Smith has been Medical Director at two nursing homes and is currently director at Heritage Convalescent Center in American Fork. Dr. Smith double boarded in Family and Emergency Medicine. He enjoys providing general primary care for families as well as obstetrics.
He is married and has five children and five grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, reading, playing the piano, oil painting, jogging, and gardening. Dr. Smith has been involved for years with the Friends of the American Fork Library as well as various local Church callings.
